Loulé Algarve
Loulé is a beautiful town, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the beach and the effects of modern tourism, but still well serviced by a thriving local community. Quite a few great bars and restaurants lurk in it’s ancient roadways, beneath the castle walls.
A bar outside the castle walls
Just outside the castle walls however, lies a particular bar which I know really well. Regularly I enjoy a Friday evening drink with some mates there and we know the owner/bartender fairly well. Jorge has a passion for Gin and Tonic, so if you’re on the lookout for a good G & T, head on down to the Taberna dos Frades.
Fado nights and Gin and Tonics
He also used to hold an amazing Fado night which was a spectacular event, including sit-down dinner and fantastic music all through the night. My buddy George and I headed down for a drink after scouting around Loulé in search of some interesting views. It turned out to be quite a fun evening as Philippos the Greek arrived too.
