Marina in Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal
History of Vilamoura, Algarve
Vilamoura’s origins date back to the Roman Empire, with historical sites such as the Cerro da Vila ruins showcasing remnants of an ancient villa, salt baths, and mosaics that hint at its early significance. However, modern Vilamoura was largely developed in the 1960s by wealthy banker Cupertino de Miranda, who transformed it into a luxurious, resort-like town. The sophisticated and vibrant marina area, upscale golf courses, and leisure facilities seen today result from this vision.
Vilamoura Marina is currently being developed, expanding the area further and attracting even more investment. This is part of a broader plan by Vilamoura World, which manages the marina and has been investing significantly in infrastructure and property development in the area. The increased capacity and elevated service offerings should enhance Vilamoura’s reputation and further drive up property values and investment potential in the surrounding areas.
